C.R.A.P.
I've been told that I need to stay in town for a big week long meeting from August 21 -24 and that's just CRAP!
I'm going to miss the Mini Takes the States parties and the fun run to Las Vegas. CRAP!
You all better take a whole bunch of pictures and tell me how much fun this huge run was. I will enjoy hearing the stories...
Keep your fingers crossed, there's a .001% chance I can make it

I signed up for Mini Takes the States
Hey, I have signed up for MTTS. I am planning on going to Las Vegas. I am thinking of continueing to Flagstaff and then going to the Grand Canyon and Southern Utah and then returning via Reno and going to Fernley on the 26th for a trackday and driving over the Sierras after that.
Creeker I signed up and now you aren't going. I hate how work interferes with Motoring. I missed Big Mini Day because of a meeting. I hope you come up with a way out. Can't you just call in from the road?

So I'm curious,
If we don't need to update our route if we want to add a leg, how will MTTS know how many if us are acually going to show up to these events if we are only regestered for one leg? Won't they be underestimating their numbers? I would hate to see people left out of an event because they didn't count on so many people showing up.
Just wondering how this is all going to work out . Maybe I'm thinking too much into this ?

I think Lidia is more concerned w/things like the House of Blues night in Vegas. If MINI underestimates how many people are actually going to be there, then some may miss out on the planned event because of limited space or whatever. I'm curious how this is being planned for since I only signed up for Monterey to SB, but am now definitely doing SB to Vegas as well.

Gotcha! Well, it looks like they have the whole place:
MINI USA will take over The House of Blues at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas for night of dancing, live music and much more, courtesy of 'Real Networks.'
'Real Networks' will provide admission to this very popular music venue for more than 1,000 registered MTTS participants.
I know it is still early, but looking at a worst case scenario right now:
437 sign-ups from Monterey to Santa Barbara
371 sign-ups from Santa Barbara to Las Vegas
267 sign-ups from Las Vegas to Flagstaff
If we assume(for worst case planning)that these are all unique applicants for each leg (which we know is not the case), it would mean 1075 registered people in Vegas. Let's also assume that everyone has a navigatory. Now we are at 2150 people.
Now we know that this is worst case for the current numbers as I know several people are only doing the first run, and some of the Vegas to Flagstaff people may only show up on the morning of the 23rd.
I guess the real question is: What is the occupancy limit for House of Blues in Vegas?
The Restaurant can handle ~650
The Music hall can hanlde ~2000

If I could update my profile, I would cancel my reservations just so the promoters can get an accurate count on the number of participants.
I canceled my reservations at the Luxor last night. That was painful.

When I went to the House of Blues a couple years back, it was part of an event for a convention. It's a fantasic place and the music rocked. The whole restaurant was booked as well as the music hall. But they underestimated the number of people attending. Don't know how because we all had wrist bands, but they had to turn some people away and that wasn't cool. I would just hate to see something like that happen. So....I guess we'd better just show up early....just in case!
Creeker...sorry you canceled your reservations

I thought I'd be smart and contact Real Networks for tickets to the House of Blues party since I've been a Superpass holder for years. I finally made it through the gantlet to Matt in Marketing who told me two tickets will be in the packet MINI USA mails out to Las Vegas leg registrants. That will be real interesting for solos like me. Maybe I'll get popular for a little while with my extra ticket!

Ummm... that's kinda crappy if you can't update your registration. So it looks like I'm screwed. This tempts me to register again - even though they say not to.
