I have sent Jan 2 emails and still waiting for a response. I have 2 shops located in the bay area, one in San Jose and one in the city of Fremont. It is now all up to Jan to start planning and making the time to come up and do this.

So stay tunned.

Put me down.

I've got a little farther to come, but from what I hear--it's totally worth it. Keep me posted as possible dates open up. Sooner is better— especially mid-week. I'll have to arrange for time off.

it seems we get more and more people from the bay. For those that are not sure if they can including mikenaron-please be sure about the event. The list is open for whom ever that is able to make it. Being tentative makes it harder to keep a head count.

And by the way, this is not an official list, anyone can add themselves to this head count if they can make it. I'm just updating this informal list simply to keep count of all the posters that want to do this.

So the current head count now goes as so:

1-SharoSC02
2-Nabashin
3-tazio
4-brownflyer
5-70spop
6-custard
7-howsoonisnow1985
8-A4blur
9-jimz68
10-kmickey
11-sandini
12-Mini_Crazy
13-rkw
14-kazlot

15-jumhaggis
16-jrlombard

Totally understand, but without confirmed dates, it's somewhat difficult to not be tentative.

You are very right.

The date is not set yet but it seems as if it will be late January since Jan is very very busy.

Jan has to get his timing coordinated to come up here along with choosing the shop that he feels good working in along with it being the most central to everyone.

OK Jan called me back today and we spoke about the possible timing and the dates. He is going to call the shops this coming week to figure out what days are going to be the best. We will obviously need more than one day due to the number of posters wanting this tune.

There will be deposits that we have to obtain from everyone that wants to have this event happen.

More info. to follow.

I'd like to have this done, too

I was wondering what the cost might be? Also, Jan suggested I get a new SC belt, plugs and have the system checked for pressure leaks. Any suggestions where to have this done in San Francisco/San Mateo Co area? Getting to the East Bay is hard for me during the week.

Just as a note, Jan mentioned for all that want to do this tune to have their cars checked for any possible leaks, check their belt for any possible slippage or any other possible problems that there might be before getting his tune. This will only help save time for everyone without running in to complications and help to concentrating on the tune itself.

As for shops in San Mateo and or San Francisco, I'm afraid I don't have any answer to it as I' m in San Jose and know of a shop here in town. Perhaps there are some posters in those areas that will have some suggestions.

Hi guy's,

Just wanted to know if you ever got a date when Jan is going to be up there? We are having him come up to Fresno, he was supposed to be here the 22nd of January, but as you may know he is going to be in Philly for 2 weeks now. I was just trying to figure out when we could get him back and I know that you guy's are too.

Thanks, Jim

I'm not going to wait to long. If I have to I'll drive down to his shop and get it done there.

That would be one way to "break" in the new motor.... but I'm sure that you would prefer not to have it take a "dump" like last time!

RMW head + tune

Anyone know of a really good performance shop in the SF Bay Area for the head install? I want to get the RMW head put in before the tune. If I can't find someone good up here before Jan's visit then I'm just going to drive down to the shop he uses in SoCal and get it all done at once. Hate that drive though...

Any shop recommendations appreciated!

There are lots...

Edge motor works in Dublin, A&E in cupertino, Bay Bridge in Oakland (I think... PM Jimz68 for a few more).

Where do you live?

Matt

ps, add me to the list.....

I can recommend BBM. Jacques is cool and competent. He may try to convince you that you are spending too much on the RMW head, though...

San Carlos ....close is good but main thing is I want to make sure its done right ... Jan tells me he's had a few installed at Edge and A&E already, so probably go with one of those...

I'm very late to the party, but if there is still room for one more, I am game.

Hi B! Haven't been around the boards much lately, since it was too much temptation to keep modding. My original idea was to save up enough to get a new cylinder head, header, clutch/flywheel, and ECU done all at once, but if Jan will be in town, I figure I could just get the tune and have a more bearable put-together car for the time being. The water/methanol injection has reduced pinging and made throttle response as good as when I was adding octane booster, but I've always been a bit disappointed in the engine performance. We'll see how this turns out after Jan puts some work into it.

P.S. We've still got to clay your MINI! Shoot me a PM if you've got some time available - Saturday morning/afternoons are best for me.
