Xenon Lights + PD Encounters?

Has anyone been approached by cops in regards to your xenon lights? Funny thing...It's only been 25 hrs since driving home in my new baby blue when a SFPD patrol car pulls up beside me at a red light. He waves his hand to me to roll down my window.

SFPD: Are your high beams on?
Me: No. These are my regular lights.
SFPD: Are they legal?
Me: *shrugs shoulders* These are factory installed headlights. I think they're legal....Everything on this car is factory stock ordered!
SFPD: Oh wow, your lights are REALLY bright. Oh well.

Stoplight turns green and he drives off.

LOL - good thing the LEO didn't harass you.

The PD really should be more vigiliant regarding HIDs. I've had a couple of friends install HIDs in their Japanese imports, and they're tastefully done - bright, white light that don't blind the people in front of them (perhaps also because they were courteous enough to adjust their headlights so they're not aiming at anyone's sideview mirrors). But too often, I find myself blinded by SUVs and trucks with obnoxiously bright aftermarket HIDs. C'mon, people, don't let EVERYONE know you're overcompensating.

Wow, that PO must have been bored and/or really wanted another ticket that night

Have had the 05 Mini with xenons in and around SF for some time and never had a lick of problems with the law enforcement

What is funny is that we got a fix it for no front plate, and when we went to the CHP to have the fix signed off on the officer said how he hates that, that it does not look good it really messes up the front of the car He *may* have even said that he himself did not have a plate on the front of his sports car

Frumpysf,

Haven't been pulled over yet, but I am sure I will be. I did darken mine. Now I wonder if that is going to be a problem.

The worst offenders are SUV's and PU's that have been jacked up, but the headlights have't been readjusted, and now blind the hell out of everyone because they point into one's face, instead of the road.

Make sure that your lights automatically adjust when you turn them on. They should find their level point in a couple of seconds. If they don't automatically adjust then they could be aimed wrong.
