Any ideas of where to set it up? Sounds like a Saturday morning thing. Near coffee? Donuts? On the east side of the bay hills? ( That way its between Redwood and Mines roads somewhere. ) San Ramon? Pleasanton? Walnut Creek?

P-town sounds good to me, as we can go highbrow / lowbrow & anything in between, tea & crumpets, coffee & donuts, or cavier & momosas?

We will want to have good coffee and lots of parking. Are we planning to have breakfast or just coffee in the parking lot? I was thinking grab a coffee and hangout and check out the cars. But either way works.

How about Katy's Korner - 2550 San Ramon Valley Boulevard, San Ramon? Lots of parking - huge breakfast selection.

Here's a recent review:

Katy's Korner is without question the place to go in the area for breakfast or a hearty lunch. The crowds at the door will attest to the fact this is a favorite spot. This little hideaway does no advertising, but word of mouth seems to be working just fine!

A friendly Icelandic family owns the little hangout. They all are gorgeous! No matter if it's your first time or 100th time you will be greeted by a huge smile like you are the number one customer. The family is there running the show and making sure everybody feels welcomed.
They are only open for breakfast and lunch. Breakfast and lunch is what they do best. The pancakes are huge and the French toast is the best anywhere. They keep the coffee cups full with delicious coffee.
Katy's is located in one of San Ramon's many strip malls. The interior is a bit eclectic with funny signs and a huge ceramic pig collection. It look a little like the kitchen of the crazy aunt's home that you love so much. Kids are king here and they offer a small playroom in the back of the dining room with videos and toys galore. It's been a challenge to pull the kids back to the table when the food arrives! In the summer months a patio is open to enjoy your meal outdoors.
Games are brought to the tables for kids and daily newspapers for the adults. Everyone is kept busy, even though the service is quick and you seldom wait for your meal. We love Katy's. It has a good feel, the service is friendly and familiar and the food is just what you want when you crave a huge, carb-loaded breakfast! Don't take my word, ask anyone in the valley - it's an area favorite!

There's a couple of options... There's a starbucks right on the other side of the freeway or there's a Peet's about a mile away, down a somewhat fun surface street with a couple of decent corners (a little flat though) through a business park, near Target.

If you want to go a couple miles south there's a sleeper of a breakfast place called Copper Skillet in Dublin. A great place with tons of breakfast stuff and a good amount of parking, as it's in a strip mall. Their chicken fried steak is awesome but can turn into a gut-bomb if you get it with a stack o' cakes. Consider yourself warned There's a Starbucks across the street and a Peet's about half a block further down the street.

If you want to go a little further north, there's Valley Medlands (sp?) in Danville which is great but a little small and there's only street parking. There's a Starbucks 3 doors down and a Peet's is about a 1/4 mile down the street.

Do we have a time yet?.. 9 works for me and my better half....

Copper Skillet is good. I can walk to there. A new Starbucks just opened up across the street. There are lots of choices. I've been to Father Natures too. Also good.

Well it looks like people want them up north and down south. We could set it up to rotate or for once or twice a month at one or two different places. One around 680/24 and the other by 680/580. Zacs in Dublin is pretty good , lots of parking too. We should make this a seperate thread in case other areas want to set something up in their areas. Keep sending in your ideas !!

Locations

Ok it looks like Kaffe Barbara and The Copper Skillet. Do you want to make the Skillet the first Sat and Barbara the the third? That way we can travel around to each others haunts, meet more MINI people. Any objections?

The same owners have also opened up shop in downtown Walnut Creek called "Katy's Kreek". Highly recommended.

Only that there ain't a ton of parking at Kaffee Barbara - especially on the weekend.

Courtyard Cafe in Alamo has an large outdoor seating area and the now defunct Yard Bird's parking lot is right next door.................

Food for thought.
