MINI meet for Bay area?

Ok so I noticed that a lot of the meets that happen for the MINI norcal club is honestly based up near the city or higher geographicly. I am curious if there is anyoen that would be interested in a bay area drive based in the south bay, say San Jose, Los Gatos, Campbell area? I think that we could put together some great drives especially since we have the great roads that tie to HWY 1, and Hwy 9, and the monterey coast. Man Hwy 17 is great for a mini, and the old hwy 17 is even better since it is no longer used as a highway. Just thought I would like to make some more events happen more often that can include us southern aby area people without driving 50 miles plus.
Thanks

You can also keep an eye out on the Nikki/BAMMER runs. They usually happen in the south bay... the next one is in the north bay though. Those posts can be found on NAM with the details in the Northern California section

The clubs in the area ususally try and spread out their runs to include all the areas. keep an eye out on the norcal site, REME and GCM... Hope this helps!

There is also a great San Juan Bautista event every fall... car show and run with a variety of classic english sports cars. A great yearly event.

I'll try to get on Nikk's run this Sunday, yeah I'll have to get up awfully early, just don't want to miss the nice weather, supposedly.

Living in evergreen area, my favorite after dinner run is taking on Quimby, 1700ft gain and 20+ turns in 3 miles . Another longer route is to follow San Felipe rd south, through some gentle rolling hills and sweet twists, passing an interesting dirt bike park http://www.off-road.com/dirtbike/features/2005/santaclara/, and eventually drop to 101.
They feel much different from the densely covered rds in the west hills, I like them both.
Oh, Calaveras Rd & Sierra rd a little north are fun too.

Its funny, when I look it seems like the meets are all out far east, south or really far north and nothing is close to SF - then, as things go the closer ones are on days we can't go (work issue on Sat, prior commitments) and now this weekend Easter is threatening to make that one questionable too

Great Idea!

I was on the old Santa Cruz Highway a few weeks ago and thought what a great road. I will never take the stressful Highway 17 again. Instead I will be smiling through the twisties. Do you know what road it is that takes you to the large square building in the west San Jose mountains? The one they want to tear down that you can see from miles away. Is that Mt. Uminum? These are some of the roads we've been looking at for a event/run.

NorCal Mini's has Event Planning Breakfasts a couple times a year. Anyone and everyone is invited. The more varity in events/runs the better. If the Event Planning meeting is not possible give us a call on the club cell (510-919-8889) and your idea will become an event/run.

Join us on the Pinnacle Run Sunday April 23rd.

The building that you are speaking of is a fire lookout buidling and it is on MT. Uminum. Man there are some great roads back in my backyard (SC mountains) I think that a lot of people would have a kick out of driving on Hwy 9 or old Santa Cruz with all the Suzuki, Ducati, HOnda, and Yamaha's that ride on the weekends. We used to take our M3's and go driving with them. Best drives i have ever had. Twisty, FAST, and LONG. and then at the end stop at Maryanne's (I think?) for lunch at the top of the mountain. I really would love to schedule some southern runs as well. Thanks to all of those who took interest in this as well. The other thing is that not everyone that is Bay area based that is on NAM reads this forum so I am trying to figure out how to get the word out without posting incorrectly on NAM. But any ideas would be cool.
Thanks guys

We had a BMW meet a few years ago and I think it was that Hwy 9 or one of those Santa Cruz twisties, ironically, that people went on a drive on afterwards. I skipped it but later found out that someone went off the road and down an embankment big time I have to admit after having/being involved in BMW drives that get too aggressive and dangerous at times I have become a bit leary of group drives - at times it has felt thisclose to a multicar accident. It just takes that one person/thing happening to make it a bad day...

Call and we will set it up

We try not to lose any over the side. Its ok to have some fun but you don't have to get stupid. We slowed down after seeing a few close ones and coming upon a few downed bikes. Its more fun on the track anyway. More ideas = more runs
