custom car alarms is pretty good. My friend actually manages the SF location. The only problem was, they are pretty busy since their SF location is now inside SF Honda. This means, they get a lot of dealer work. They do great work, they're just really busy. My friend was even going to give me a discount on some equipment (such as an alpine amp/JL Stealth box set up), but I was looking for a little more customized work- something they really didn't have the time to do.
So, I ended up going to Pacific Stereo in Redwood City (chose them becuase they are listed as "Authorized Dealers" on the JL website and they are about 10 min from my house). Not the best choice. They had lots of inventory- ended up with 2 JL 8w3v2's powered by a JL 250/1. But what I think counts even more, is the quality of their work. I won't go into detail about their "lack of attention to detail" , as I am still batteling with them to get it right. But I would NOT recommend Pacific Stereo in Redwood City (they have other locations, in Fremont and Hayward- I'm not sure how those places are).
Sorry if this doesn't really answer your question about a good stereo shop, but I thought I'd chime in and tell you NOT to goto Pacific Stereo. Even though they are an authorized JL Dealer- one of the main reason's why I chose them. I'd be curious to see if anyone has any good suggestions, cuz I might end up needing to go somewhere else to get my system right.

wooper, that's good to know! Thank's for the info. Other people have recommended me to Pacific Stereo in Fremont, but I feel kinda fishy about it. Hence, they're chain store and to me chain store tend to get more people (kinda like Best Buy). Eventually they'll just rush their work because they have so many cars lined up.
