German Motor Specialist is an excellent shop. They have serviced my Mini's for 4years. They wil treat you well. Also BRRacing in Los Gatos is excellent. They race a couple of R53s so they know of what they speak.
Bay Bridge Motors got back to me with a 13.5 hours of labor quote to do my clutch. yikes. i'm gonna call German Motor once i get a chance to (at work right now). one of my co-workers says she goes to a place called 'Eddies German Auto' in Fremont, but i have no clue if they've ever worked on a MINI before.
Im gonna need a clutch soon as well. I was told by a friend of a co-worker who works at a bmw/mini shop that he charged 3500 for the one clutch they did on the mcs. what have people here been charged for an aftermarket clutch/flywheel job?
just left a VM with Edge. hopefully Gordon calls me back. thanks.
EDIT: got a call and a e-Mail back from Edge. i've narrowed it down between them and the place in Fremont. thanks guys.
Any new info to report back? I am looking for the best place to take my girl friends mini in for recommended service intervals. I would rather go to a privately owned mini specialist shop rather than spending the same or more at a dealer any day.
I think that's pretty standard for a clutch job. I talked to Bruce and BR Racing and he mentioned it took 14 hours. I just had my supercharger rebuilt and had BR install it and put an Alta 15% pulley on. They did an awesome job.

i ended up having the OEM clutch job done at the East Bay dealership once we negotiated a fair price for everything.
Hi. I want to have my rear sway bar, control links/arms and shocks/coil replaced (cooper s 2008). Any of of you have any experience with the following shops: Edge or Bay Bridge Motors.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend either shop. They are both excellent.
We've had good dealings with Edge as well. As a benchmark, we charge $850 labor to do a clutch (that's labor only). Philly is a bit cheaper than the Bay area, but that's a fair price here.

They charge you 13.5-14 hours, but trust me, if it takes them that long to do a clutch job on a r56 or even an r53 whoever is doing it is sloooow. I've personally done a few without a lift in far less time.
As for BRR tuning MINI's (actual re-mapping of DME/PCM) i don't believe they do that as they do not have an in house dynometer or tuner on site. They do have good relations with DINAN, but even then I think all they serve is base/shelf map tuning.

That is a fair price. I bet you might work on a package deal for customers who also purchase clutch kit and flywheel through you if they choose to do install with you.
