Mod-friendly dealers in...

NY/NJ/CT area. i thought i heard somewhere that Morristown MINI was mod-friendly, i know they sell and install MiniMania products and OZ wheels, i did buy my car there and was not very pleased with their service dept. before. anyone know anything about this? if they don't mind modifications and honor the Moss-Magnusson warranty act then i'll happily give them another shot. i know that Westchester MINI in White Plains, NY (5 miles from my house) is not tolerant of any mods at all, they busted my chops when i lost one of the screws from my hood scoop because i have the BFP carbon fiber piece! they said "we'll replace it this time, but in the future you'll have to purchase the new nuts if lost again." are they kidding me? how much is that nut, .50 cents?

Prestige in Mahwah is second to none!

Where did you hear this? I bought my MINI there and loved their sales staff but their service is the absolute worse. And everytime I even went for free maintenance, someone would say, "you got the supercharger pulley? That's not good..." and shake their head. I used to ignore them but I eventually had enough of them.

Try Prestige in Mahwah. FANTASTIC service - Scott the service manager is great! Plus they are MINI-only (no BMWs in sight!) and have an excellent waiting room and allow you in the work area to talk to the techs. They do a nice job washing the MINI after ANY service and have coffee, water, hot chocolate and even the original Italian Job playing on a plasma screen in the waiting room which, by the way, has a glass wall overlooking the service department. You can also bring your MINI in for a minor job in the middle of the day (with an appointment of course) and wait for it. They always take the car when they say they will.

Can't say enough about them. i converted - so should you!

Kudos for Prestige

Along with a fine dealership and excellent technicians (Vassili P. is terrific), Prestige supports the MINI community big time! They just donated a $1,000 gift certificate for the 2004 MINIs on Top event this last weekend in NH. And where have you seen THAT lately?

Give Prestige a call and let them know you heard about them through MINIs on Top.

The fact that they are owned by BMW might have something to do with this behavior.

When I visited MINI of Fairfield in Stamford, I felt that they're very strict regarding aftermarket mods as well! I have quite a few mods and might be doing an oil change during my visit in CT. Any suggestions?

I'm not sure how strict New Country's service department is, but I had fantastic service from their MINI Service Manager (Scott Taylor) when I had my ECU sent to NJ for the v.38 prototype. You might want to give them a call.

good to hear about Prestige. they are closer to me than Morristown too. my uncle used to work at Westchester BMW, he told me they were a factory store, but you would think with BMW's marketing push touting the MINI brand as a very personalize-able car they'd be a little more forgiving.

I agree with the other posts regarding the great service at Prestige. I know that they recently started selling and installing stuff from Rogue Engineering.

Last I knew, it was only the Rogue CAI and short-shift kit. As much as I like Prestige's service, they have been busting my chops about mods. I'll do the mods anyway and then fight if they give me problems.

What mods do you have? I have 19% pulley, exhaust and intake and they never say anything negative. Heck they even helped me with an exhaust rattle!
