I'm just seeing what the price difference is between bulb drop in, and HID conversion. I have to swap mine out soon, my car winks at people.

I haven't used Plasti-dip in a while, but I have been just doing base/clear coat on my trim. Factory Pepper white match. HATE THE CHROME!

I dipped all of my exterior chrome except for the belt-line. Used the vinyl kit from OutMotoring to do that. Cost me like 20 bucks or so for the vinyl and about 6 bucks for a can of plasti-dip. And my grill surround is OEM / JCW. Need to get those headlights out one of these days...

I did the rings, scuttles and gas cap with one can of plasti-dip, and I removed them from the car to do so.

The emblems and door handles got masked on the car, and I dipped them one calm day in the parking lot away form the rest of the cars. Any over-spray was removed with a hard wash.

I wonder if I should have all the black trim painted at the same time I have the bonnet and front bumper resprayed in the spring.

Also need to get some pictures of it in the day light with the winter wheels on it (after it gets washed - LOL).

I wouldn't think it would add too much to the painting cost, and body color rings look great. I wouldn't have them paint your grill surround, but that's just me. I like mine in black.

I was thinking the wheel arches, side skirts, and bumper trim. But body color trim rings do look great. Yea I'm leaving the grille surrounds and light trim black. Still need to figure out the door handles and gas filler door.

I also color matched my trim rings and gas cap. Still have to pull off my headlight washers and paint those. I put in an order for the black Jcw grill trim. I really wanted to do my grill trim in dark silver too but I just don't want to spend the time on it. Mike, the gas cap comes off easy enough. Pull it and paint it.

Found Carbon Fiber Grill surround trim through FUbrication. Soooooo nasty looking, but also $350.....spring time after wheels and suspension.

argh... bummer about the chip in the rings. looking at my hood scoop, my only fear with the carbon fiber stuff on the front is chipping of the clearcoat. I'd hate to spend a big chunk of money and notice chips.

Clear vinyl wrap it if you are that worried.

eh, i just won't spend that kind of crazy money. the JCW Scoop i snagged a few months back had some chips in the clear coat. The guy i got it from said they were doing road work on his daily commute route and small bits of debris got kicked up leaving tiny blemishes. It bugged me for a bit but i'm over it now. You really can't tell unless you're right on top of it.

I read it as that I needed to take photos of my car with it winters. I have a pic of it the day after I picked it up from my friends.

I'm toying with the idea of clear matte wrap the whole car in the spring. A friend of mine is wrapping his smartcar and wants to wrap the Mini.
