HK audio weak?

Just bought a used 17 Countryman S and wondering if the audio is a known issue for being weak? It has the Harman Kardon option but doesn’t sound as good as stock radios of other vehicles I have owned. I’m not expecting a world class punch, but the bass and treble need to maxed out just to get anything decent. And it takes a good bit a **** turning before the volume reacts. Where is the amp located? And is there a subwoofer in this system?

Nevermind, found a sponsored video about how “amazing” this system is supposed to be. Not impressed in the least. My Jeep Wrangler has better sound with the top off. HK should feel embarrassed in this build. At least the car is awesome! Might have to see what everyone has done to upgrade the stereo sound...
