Ok, so I switched from my Nokia Lumia 900 back to my iPhone 4 and today I went to use the Y cable that was supplied by the MINI dealer. The cable seems to be a genuine BMW part, but when connected I get a message that this cable isn't supported and that I should use the cable supplied by the vehicle manufacturer. ARGH! I'm having very little luck with phones and my Countryman!

Has anyone encountered this and know what's going on? Should I try a new cable?

 

There are 2 y cables. One has a rectangle in the middle, and one a triangular connection. My wifes countryman wouldn't work well with her ipod with the rectangle so we swapped them with a dealer and it works great now. Worth a shot

 

Thanks for the reply. The cable I have has the triangle...hmm. Maybe finding one with the rectangle will work for me...

 

Yep, there's two versions:

P/N 61-12-2-179-623 works if you have the Integrated Visual Display (Connected/NAV/Tech Package)
P/N 61-12-0-440-812 works cars without the Integrated Visual Display

 

Thanks for the part numbers! I'm at work so can't check which part I have, but I'll bet they gave me the one for the Integrated Visual Display.
