FYI for anyone thinking of upgrading their stock non HK or HK speakers

I've been going back and forth with Ken at Musicar for a good month and a half to figure out what aftermarket speakers would fit for our car (originally I thought the Focal KRS 100 and the SWS-8 earthquakes would fit since they fit perfectly in the BMWs)...apparently the only speakers we found out that would work (without heavy modification) would be the German Maestro 2way components (they were the original creators of MB Quartz back in the days before they sold the company and started their own)

"OK, here's what we've determined today:

- The EFS 40087 will fit with a mounting plate we've drawn up. We're going to offer a modified version of this kit with the tweeters premounted into HK trim and the PnP wiring harness already attached (we use Molexes on the mid and tweeter wiring so that door-panel disassembly is really easy for servicing). We are prohibited from seeming to offer this speaker online, so we need to be very circumspect about how we present it.*

- The Jehnert and Audio System woofers will fit underseat. I don't think the SWS will clear under the grille - it might hit the underside at excursion.

- The HK system uses a balanced signal which most amps don't like.*

So we have put together a bolt-in, PnP package which upgrades:

- The amp (stock amp does not need to be removed)
- The underseats
- The door speakers

The amp will mount to a panel that fits under the load floor, and the integration harness will extend to it. The power wire will have to be run from the amp location to the battery through the port forward of the glove compartment. We will preset the crossover settings on the amp.*

And we have rear-speaker retention and rear-speaker deletion packages. With rear-speaker deletion, we use a better-sounding 4-channel amp (the Arc Class G amp has 125W of available power for musically significant periods of time - the Class G allows significant*dynamic headroom.*

Level One - Audio System 8" woofers, JL 600/6 (75x6) w rear-speaker retention, Arc Audio Mini 4 (75x4) with rear-speaker deletion. $1495 w/o rears, $1595 with rears

Level Two - With Jehnert woofer upgrade, add $150 to the Level One package you select above.*

Level Three - Uses two Arc Mini 4, one 2-channel on the Jehnerts, one 4-channel front and rear. $1995 total.

Everything needed is included except for hand tools.*

So that's what we're releasing. If you think you'd like to go this route, we'd extend to you a prerelease discounted price on whichever system you're interested in. Let me know what you think, thanks.*

Regards,

Ken
