OEM iPod adapter questions

Hi All.
I am thinking of getting the IPOD adapter for the 2007. I know it is a different product but i thought i would ask about the current one because it will probably act the same.

1. Shuffle mode? (for all tracks on player)
2. can i turn the car off and leave the ipod in the dash, walk away, then come back to the place where the song left off?
2a. what happens when you turn the car off and leave the ipod connected?

i would be getting an ipod solely for the car, and it would stay there permanently other than when i take it out to lad new songs....i would not want to hassle with it at all.....

I have a 2007 convertible, but I'll assume it's the same set up.

Yes, you can shuffle the songs (just have to hit the RANDOM button on the radio and it shuffles the songs in that particular playlist).

Yes, the song will re-start right where you left off.

I leave my iPod in the glove compartment all the time. The whole set up is pretty nice, especially since you can configure playlists specifically for the MINI. You basically name them MINI1, MINI2, etc. and then the buttons on the radio will call up that particular playlist. Radio station button #6 is your entire iPod library.

Really, it's one of my favorite features in a car filled with favorite features!

Only thing to note is that your iPod will continue to be charged for 30 minutes following shutting off your engine. I doubt that would have much of an impact on your battery, but it's something to be aware of at any rate.

I miss being able to select albums or playlists at random rather than being forced to set up five playlists in advance; but I think it's worth it to have control from the steering wheel and being able to keep the iPod out-of-sight in the glove compartment.
