PLEASE ADVISE FOR THE MILLIONTH TIME.
COOPER S WITH NAVIGATION & HK STEREO.
CAN YOU HOOK UP AN IPOD WITHOUT LOSING THE NAVIGATION THROUGH THE FACTORY SPEAKERS? IF SO, WHICH PRODUCT WILL WORK.

THANKS

First of all, please turn off CAPS LOCK - it appears that you are SHOUTING AT US!

Now - there has always been plenty of information available on NAM on this topic if you just searched a little.

The easiest and cheapest way to hook up an iPod is to get the Aux Input. It's around $40 or so from your dealership, and simple enough to install yourself.

The only catch is that the Navigation system has two wires (for the voice) which must be transferred into the (radio-side) Aux input plug in order to maintain the voice directions.

Another option is the DICE iPod adapter, which, although more expensive, will add other benefits, such as control of the iPod from your steering wheel (assuming you have the Multi-Function Steering Wheel (MFSW)), and the display of track titles on your head unit (if it was manufactured after 04/05).

The unfortunate downside of the DICE is that yes, you can have the ID3 tag data display on the stereo or NAV screen, but at the expense of the navigation info on the NAV screen. I have yet to run into anyone who jumped up and down yelling, "Yes, I want my MP3 ID3 taga date and really, rally want to lose the NAV images!"

There are no products that will allow you to have ID3 tags with NAV, as Abuzavi said, you will lose the nav map. Tis unfortunate...

If I install the DICE in the head unit can I get nav maps when it is off?

Can I temporarily shut off my ipod and get my nav maps back?

Yes, or temporarily turn off DICE text if you wish.
