MKIV Nav firmware v29.1, KrisL edition

I released my own custom firmware previously that had a custom startup screen, sky, more intuitive menu text, and the British voice that replaced French. The problem with the British is that since it was simply considered "voice #3", your points of interest were still in French.

I've realized that it's easier just releasing 2 versions: one with the American voice and anohter with the British voice.

I've already modified v29.1 with the same custom startup screen from the previous version:

I am now also using Richard E39's mountain sky picture. I live in California and it looks like the Sierra Nevadas . Looks good with the nav too - I tried his deep blue cloudy sky with the roundel, but it didn't look quite as good in my opinion:

I also modified the text just like I did in my previous old version. It's a bit more intuitive now.

Now, before releasing this...

Many that would choose the British voice are Mini owners. Minis have a separate/different startup screen. Right now, it's unchanged. I obviously don't want to put a picture of my BMW steering wheel for the mini startup... so those with a Mini, what startup picture would you like to see? It'd have to be something that all Mini drivers would like.

Once I find something suitable I'll have both the American English and the British English versions available for easy download.

Thanks!
-Kris

Hows about a graphic with a Union Jack, bulldog etc - something that would span all years/models and be bright and bold?

I wouldn't be so thrilled with that. Yeah, I see the UK connection with the R53+, but to me, it's a German car!

Yeah, I know -- wholly illogical. "Fine German engineering" is what keeps running through my head.

Why hack the voice? You guys do know that there is software that will let you actually recode the NAV computer (free) in the proper manner via the IBUS without hacking the actual CD... As for the graphics, I like the idea of a half German Half British graphic of some sort to show what the car really is.... Most Brits would want to shoot me right now... :p
