Digital Speedometer Problem

I have a late '06 with navigation. It also came with the on board computer, which I thought had a digital speedometer, but when I hit the button to go through the computer, it has everything but the speedometer. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know of a way to fix it? I contacted the dealership, right after I bought it, but they haven't gotten back to me.

Any help would be great.

Thanks!

This is by design. It sucks, but it's true. You ONLY get the digital speedometer if you have the center analog speedo. If you opted for Nav or the Chrono pack, MINI disables the digital speedo.

Sorry - I don't like it either (I have Nav too). Apparently there is a way to "hack" the OBC to enable it but there are side-effects (like putting the computer in Euro mode or something). I haven't wanted to fix one problem and create another, so I've lived with it.

Thanks, that helps... atleast I know it isn't just a defect in mine.

If you get a second, what are the side-effects of the "hack"? Not that I'm going to do it but just out of curiosity.

To be honest, I don't remember exactly... but it was enough to make me concerned not to try it. Do some searching here on NAM, because I know the digital speedometer issue has been discussed before.

The hack does not work. It does give you a digital readout, but it is in Kilometers (worthless in the US for obvious reasons).

The hack also looses your digital clock.
