Question about "lifetime" SIRIUS
Whose "life" does that mean - the owner or the stereo?
In other words, if I shell out $950 for a lifetime subscription to Sirius, and then I sell the car in five years, does the next owner get the subscription or do I get to transfer it to my next car?
Either way is okay with me. If it stays with the car then presumably it ups the trade-in value of the car. In fact, I kinda like that option better because it prevents vendor-lock-in. 5 years from now I may want to switch to XM (or some currently non-existent service).

$950? Wow. I paid $500 for a lifetime subscription in January. It was a limited time offer though.
The terms of my agreement - it is the receiver, not you that the subscription is tied to. However, you can transfer it to other receivers... but only a maximum of 3 times.
Also, it only applies to one reciever at a time, so if you want 2 recievers, you'll have to pay for the second one (it's cheap though - I think $5/month?).

I have no idea, but I imagine they have at some point. I'm sure an XM customer will chime in.
Actually, there are a number of aftermarket XM solutions that integrate very well with the factory system, including continued use of the radio controls to change stations, etc... it involves use of a special adapter - I'm sure XM customers doing this will be happy to fill you in!
However, SIRIUS is the only fully "OEM" choice.

Wow, we paid $500 for ours too, but that was a few years ago.
Anyway, you CAN transfer it up to 3 times. However, it costs $75 to do this each time (just did it with hubby's car).
