Navigation & Audio AVIC-N3 just arrived!!!
I realize this is not a powerfull stereo (22 watts RMS/50 peak x 4 channels), so I'm sure I will need to add an amp and upgrade the speakers. I've been looking at upgrading to components in the front, 6's in the rear with a Basslink in the rear. The Basslink will be self powered, so I will only need 1 amp to power the front and rears. Preferrably a small amp that can be installed under the passenger seat.
Thoughts? Suggestions?

Take a look at this:

I expect there are other options with an amp that would fit under the seat, although it would have to be very slim because there isn't much clearance.
MADMIKE007- Curious about the AVIC-N3 - I am thinking to have installed on my GP -- can stay w/o GPS
Is this a good unit - do you recommed it? Difficult installation ? Of course the GP doesn't have back speakers ..and which spearkers are you using ?
Thanks

Unfortunately I don't have great pics of the install. Here are pics of the Dynamat install taken from my phone. I wasn't around for the entire install, so I wasn't able to document the whole process. It took several days and long nights to get everything installed. Everything is installed and working great.
Here's what I ended up with... AVIC N3, XM/NAV TRAFFIC, AVIC Reverse Camera and Basslink. Oh, wall to wall Dynamat from front to rear. Next up on the mod list is component speakers and 6x9's for the rear. I'd love to find a DVD changer that I could leave the NAV disc in, but I guess that's wishful thinking.

I really like the AVIC N3 navigation, although I must admit it took some getting used to. It helps to read the manual thoroughly so you know how to operate it when you need it. Also, don't go too fast. She's good at 65 mph, but the navigation voice over directions has a hard time catching up to you if you have your foot into the floor.
Sound deadening is a must for ALL Mini owners!!!

MisterMINI:
I personally love the AVIC N3. The built in crossover gives you pretty decent control over all. The built in amp is good, but if you really want to get more sound out of the system, you need to add an amp. So, that's going to be added to my list with the new speakers. The stock speakers are decent, but I want to really hear crisp (jazz) horns when I listen to my music!
You'll be fine without the back speakers. Add an amp with a really good set of components in the front and you'll be good to go. Add the Basslink if you want a little kick.
