Sorry but... another Amp question
Hello everyone,
I'm trying to decide which direction I want to head in my upgrade of the H/K system in my MCS.
I'll probably install some focals in the front doors, maybe upgrade the 6x9s in the rear.
I want to keep the H/K head unit.
I've read through the "sticky" about upgrading, but don't see what I need....
Here's the question:
Can I remove the H/K amp and REPLACE it with an upgraded amp. Specifically, is there an adapter that will keep me from needing to clip the wires.
I'd like to unplug the amp and use a reverse plug with pigtails to tie into another amp and back out through the existing speaker wires.
I'd also like to know if anyone has Identified the wires going/coming from the H/K amp.
Thanks again
Donald

Upgrading the HK is not an easy thing to do. I recommend that you search the forums for information on this as there are numerous threads about this. Also search Ian's site for even more information.

Bottom line is that if you remove the HK amp, you remove HK. I believe that the speakers are 2 Ohm and the HU uses signal of some sort to "talk" to the amp. It is a all in one type system. There are some tricks to work around bits of it but it is a huge challange.
