I called the dealer today and the parts guy verified this is a valid part number. For the 2003 MINI retrofit. However he did not have a price or an availabilty date. I will call again tomorrow when the parts department is "really" open. MP3's for all.......

Yes, look at Gabe Bridgers web page. I took that number and called The parts dept in Miami (they don't have ablue law about car dealers). He looked it up and said yes it is a valid number

I'm excited at this possibility! Thanks for the update Darksky.

Is the Aux port just an analog input?

Rye, I believe it is just an analog port, but it is the same input used for the cd player so the sound quality should not be downgraded. I do not know if there are mobile systems with full on digital processing. I am not really that much of an audophile. But, I am happy about this port too. Imagine a twenty gig hardrive on a portable mp3 player. It could house almost every song you have ever heard (more or less).

<evil grin>

umm... 20 gigs is nothing! I'm looking at 150 gigs currently and still running out of space. Yep, I've listened to pretty much all of them and like most of them too

But they have hard drives that large as well... so your point is a great one.

Can't wait to hear what the pricing'll be on this part!

Wouldn't satellite radio be simpler?

I like the portable , it transitions from the motorcycle to the car to the gym easily. I can make custom playlists to my heart's content. My pda will link right to the stereo. Alll in all its about perfect. Plus file sharing is free. (sure to ruffle someone's copyright violation feathers). just my .02
