Is it any good? I also have an Audi Q7 (new) that the Screen controls music, car features and Navigation. Does the MINI have similar options or is it STRICTLY for Navigation...If not, What system can I install which does more options for my vehicle?

No, the OEM MINI Nav system does not control any of the extras - it controls two things from the get-go... Navigation and on-board computer. It can be expanded with installation of other options though, such as:
  • OEM bluetooth for your cellphone (expensive)
  • on-board cameras (front (split prism) and rear available)
  • TV tuner (I believe an OEM one exists but not directly available in the USA)
  • Hooking up a game console such as a PS2 (been done before)
So the on-board Nav CAN be used for other things, but you have to add those functions.

Note that the screen is NOT a touch screen, too.

I don't mean to sound negative (I have the OEM Nav and I love mine), but I'm just trying to answer your question directly.

You might want to wait for the '07 spec MINI ...

So the 2007 will have more features for music and things?

(Can you buy a rear camera in the MINI? Like that MINI Dealerships have built in?)

If you have the factory Nav, there is a rear camera available, but you have to order it from overseas... it's not "officially" available in the USA, but it IS an OEM part. There is also a matching front camera... no, it doesn't look ahead (that would be silly), it's a split prism camera that looks left and right. The idea is that you pull the tip of your nose out into the intersection and it helps you see the cross-traffic. It's fantastic when you have a monstrous SUV next to you, blocking your view, or people have parked cars right up to the curb, making it hard to see the intersection.

Nothing announced but the spy shots and other detail previews suggest that the stereo system will be integrated with the main speedometer display - and also that there will be an available navigation unit integrated in the same display.
We have to wait a while longer to learn the details ...
