aux install question

I'm wanting to install this aux input, but I want to know how to get the dash panel off - the one below the steering column. I need to pull it in order to get to the top torx bolt on the left downtube. The car is an '06.

thanks

bill

Just give it a good tug. It's hinged at the bottom and is held in place with two friction tabs at the top. I just grasp it under the steering column and pull.

Just sit in the seat and with both hands PULL down hard to release the snaps. that's all there is to it. From there, you have to wiggle the panel up and down to release the j hooks molded into the plastic that connect to plastic rail under the dash...it should only take a few seconds.

I use a wide flathead screwdriver at the two points where the tabs are, it is an act of faith the first dozen or so times. I went off the links in the MINI2 FAQ DIY section; it one of the few interior peices tht is the same after the 04/05 panel adjustments.

That's what I was thinking, but the car is 2 days old & breaking something because of haste would really make me

thanks again.
