Audio upgrade suggestions

Hi all. I know this subject has been beaten dead several times but I have a few questions about my planned audio upgrade. I have an '02 MCS w/o HK. The plan is to get a headunit, front components, and probably some rear 6x9's. I don't want to add an amp and I'm looking for a nice solid, flat sound.

The headunit will probably be the JVC KD-HDR1 as it looks like it will fit well with the MINI's interior. Its 7 band eq will be nice and it is able to supply 20w rms/50w peak. I have an older JVC headunit and 12 disc changer in our other car so I will be able to move the cd changer over to the MINI. Also, I will be able to get a MFSW adapter from newministuff.

Here's where the uncertainty begins:
The front components will probably be the Infinity Reference 6010cs. I am partial to Infinity as I have some 3 way 6.5" Kappa's in the other car (driven by the HU) and they sound great. The top mount depth is 1 7/8". I assume I will need to get a spacer but won't have any other clearance issues. Will I have any issues with the Infinity 1" tweeter? Are there any other components I should be lookng at that would give me better sound?

Now on to the rears:
I was planning on some Infinity 6x9 rears but Crutchfield only says the 3 way Kappa's will fit and I'm not spending that kind of money on rears. The weird thing is that the other Infinity models have less top mount depth than the Kappa's . I just want something to improve the base and soundstage. Any suggestions that will fit?

Thanks!

Sorry I can't be of help on the components, but check to make sure about mfsw capability if that's important to you.

it's not the mount depth thats a problem it's the metal arms holding the magnet. i tried the infinity reference in my car and they didn't fit. i went with the polk db series instead they fit. for a hu i would stick with alpine, i would also recommend the infinity basslink to round out the low end. it's easy to remove for boot space, cheap and easy to install in a mcs.

Ok thanks, I'll check the polk stuff out. hugh, I'll definitely be contacting newministuff before getting a headunit to make sure one of their adapters will work with the mfsw.
