Not exactly certain what you are asking, but I installed the OEM iPod interface adaptor in my '02 and it works great. The only draw back is that the iPod display will only show a MINI symbol and no song id. Otherwise works great through the head unit and the steering wheel controls. I have not actually seen my iPod in months (somewhere in the back of the glove box), but play it constantly. I just had to sort my 1200 songs into 5 folders by genre so that I can usethe band selector (radio presets). And yes the CD changer harness plug had to be unplugged to install the iPod adaptor, but having an 8000 song iPod capacity compared to a 60 songer changer capacity is a no-brainer. Sell the changer on eBay.

I didn't think '02 MINIs had an AUX capable head unit? Maybe just the "almost-'03" ones?

Apparently only october or november and later 02's have the required firmware on them to work with the auxillary input. Mine was earlier than that and I bought the adaptor and it would not work. I took it back to get a refund and thats when they told me that little bit of infomation. It sucks because the plug fits and everything. I asked if they could update the firmware in it then and they said no.
