Navigation & Audio mfsw wiring
mfsw wiring
I am trying to wire in a universal mfsw switch adapter by PAC to control my aftermarket HU. Which wires behind the radio need to be connected,i.e,
does it need its own power and ground and has a single lead to signal to the adapter? Thanks RR

mfsw wiring
When in doubt, read the directions! Pac in their directons say to cut the white/red/yellow dot wire. Guess what? It works. So read the directins and have faith, they have done it before.
Where did you get your controller, and which HU are you using? I want to use the MFSW with my Alpine LCD A310 HU but have yet to find an adaptor that will work. i want hard-wired as I am not into the IR thing.
harness
Try Mike the mini at Newministuff.com re: harness adapter for Alpine Heads. I am using the IR with my Alpine CDA 9855 and it works fine. The advantage is that I get to program the controller to perform six functions of my choosing. RR

If you'd used the 'hardwire' adaptor from Newministuff instead of the PAC-IR, you would have gotten less functions?
What does using the IR do for you that the hardwire harness adaptor does not?
Functions
My understanding is that with the hardwired unit you get the functions that the original mfsw came with. With the universal you get to program the switches to do the funtions of your choice allowed by the remote. Daz
