complimentary disk?

Hi everyone, I'm not sure if this topic has been covered before, but I just received this communication from my MA:

Hi Bryan,
To the best of my knowledge, Navtech, the company that handles the discs, would send customers one complimentary disc 2 years into ownership. I have spoken to my service advisor and he is checking with MINI. I will let you know when we receive a response.

Thank you,
Christina

is this true for anyone yet?

windrider....

It was true with the CDs but insofar does not look to be the case for the DVD maps discs. Many MAs have been confused by this it seems but eat their words later. I'd like to know, though, if this has somehow changed or whatnot.

I have never heard of this being true. I have heard the rumor before.

I suppose I should be clear that with the BMW Navteq sent me one free set of map discs for the CD based system - I didn't personally have it happen with a CD based MINI but thought it was the same from what the MA said. With the DVD based nav I don't know anyone with a BMW or MINI who had a freebie shipped from Navteq after any period of time.

Free Nav upgrade

I was told when I bought my Mini that the Nav system came with the first upgrade free. I ask my salesmen who referred me to the service department, who in turn told me that I needed a map upgrade and they would get back to me. I told them that I needed not only the map but the information upgraded also? That was about 6 weeks ago and I am still waiting to hear an answer from them.

If they give you a free map disc then congrats Although I doubt that will happen as they sell for $199. What they might do is upgrade the firmware of the Nav unit for free. Which is something you can do yourself though.

You would have received "1" update when the NAV was CD based however now you would have to contact Navtech if you want an update for any of the DVD based systems. This also applies to BMW.

I asked my dealer today about this and they bluntly said no, that is not true. They are pretty lame anyway though.
