SIRIUS Radio in a MCSc

I want to install the factory Sirius Unit in my MINI Convertible.

I know there are antenna issues inolved here, but my question is this: should I buy the Sirius Antenna made by MINI, or should I use one of the much cheaper Sirius Antennas (like the ones that come with the plug-n-plays) and place it on my dash?

Thanks.

I assume that the Sirius antenna is similar to the XM antenna in size.

I have had XM radio in both my '02 MCS and now my '05 MCSC, but have had no issues with either.

I guess my question wasn't clear enough (my bad). I now have a PnP Unit and am using the Aux Input with the Sirius Antenna on my dash. Although the reception is good I am unhappy overall and have decided to switch to the Sirius Factory Radio made by MINI. I would like to know if I can continue to use the antenna on my dash, or if I have to buy the MINI manufactured antenna.

Thanks in advance for any advice!!!

Kenos,

Any SIRIUS antenna should work... the only problem you may run into is if the antenna is one of the newer "single input" designs. The OEM SIRIUS receiver is an older "dual input" design... if you use a newer antenna, you'll need a dual-to-single splitter.

I have the exact same setup myself, only my aftermarket antenna (made by TERK) is on my roof, not my dash. TERK also makes a dual-to-single splitter (part number SIR-SP), which I had to use for my setup. It runs for about $15 at etronics.com, and is probably available elsewhere for around the same price.

Keep in mind that you'll have to run the antenna to the boot, since the OEM SIRIUS receiver is installed back there.

Where did you put the antenna on the MCSc?
