Any updates on the "new" hardware from Dension? I want to purchase an Icelink for my '06 (no Nav), but am waiting to see what the new Hardware is like..

Thanks!

I printed out the logs of my communications with Dension and I last spoke to Zoltan on 3/16. He told me to sit tight for 2-3 weeks for the new h/w. I'll give him a call in the morning (too late now) and check the status. I'll post here with whatever I find.

Cheers!

The "new" hardware is supposed to address issues with NAV unit integration, don't think it will affect any other IceLink functions. I just put my "old" one year old head unit model in my non-NAV car two days ago (see other thread) and it works fine. If you don't have NAV, why wait?

Two things:
mtbscott is correct that if you don't have a Nav system, get the H/U install model now. Start enjoying now the >5 playlists support with tag display on the H/U, while leaving the ipod in the glove box where it belongs.

Update from Dension,
Called Zoltan today and he explained that samples were out for testing. The electrical noise issue has been fixed (YEAH!!! ), but they are still debugging software issues with tag display. They hope to have this fixed in the next 2 weeks. He asked me to call him again at the end of next week for another update.

I'll post again when I know more.
Cheers!

thanks for the update speednut, as i mentioned i tried contacting dension to ask about this, but had no luck. i wonder if you speak to them next time if you could ask about purchasing now and exchanging when the final updated version is released?

i'd really like to get my ipod in the car and running.

Dension sales (866) 822-3673, option #1

IMHO, they are not very good at answer the phone, especially for tech support. I don't think they get in the office very early and have better luck contacting people there after lunch time PST.

They told me that they'd swap out the H/W later since I just bought it. However, if you ordered now, you'd probably just get backordered until the new model is ready. My $.02.

I understand your anxiousness. In my 330, the ice-link is great and I can't wait for the same experience in my MCS.

Cheers!

I have an 06, HK, no Nav and a brand new 60gb ipod photo. I ordered the dension last thursday and got it yesterday. Two different problems that seem to only happen after it has been working for 10-15 minutes.
1) both the radio (+ steering wheel) and ipod stop allowing track changes and the tags stop displaying
2) ipod seems to have also crashed / rebooting after playing for sometime.
Sometimes if I unplug and reconnect it will start working again, other times I can't get it to reconnect...

Anyone got any ideas?

Shaun5,
I've never had this happen to me with my nano and 3g 30GB. Have you hooked up your brand new 5g ipod to a home stereo and let it play for serveral hours (ya know, in the garage while detailing your mini ). Just wondering if you've got a bad 5g and testing to see if removing the ice-link out of the equation helps. Also resetting the ipod may help, something like holding down menu and play buttons together for a few seconds; check your manual for accurate info.

In other news:
Contacted Denison yesterday (Apr 6th) and they think the new h/w may be ready for release on Tuesday (4/11). We'll see, fingers crossed!

Cheers!

I just stumbled upon this thread... I got my IceLink probably a year and a half ago. Immediately noted the "whine" so I called and enquired about it. They told me that I needed a ground loop connector, which I ran out and bought. It did NOTHING. Called and complained again. Finally they said I could take it out (I have the boot mounted one which my dad meticulously hid the wiring for) and send it back and they'd send a replacement. I still haven't done it. :( Its a shame I spent a good chunk of money for crap...and to see that they're just now resolving the whine issue. I hope its fixed. I might call them and see about the upgrade that someone mentioned.

I have th boot mount unit. Had the whine. Moved the pin as noted in another thread here or on MINI2 and it was all good. iceLink has been faithful to me for about a year now. Besides wishing it responded a little faster or gave me text on my NAV - it's all good.
