Newb Q

I am one of the least electrically handy people you will meet, so please bear with me. I don't even know what specifically to ask in a search.

We have a MINI (duh). My daughter has an MP3 player (NOT iPod). We want to listen to her player in the MINI.
Is this just a matter of installing the Aux adapter and plugging the player into it? Is the Aux adapter purely plug/play or is there wire splicing involved?
Is there a method of doing this which gives you control from the MFSW, or is that just for iPods?

Please be gentle.

Plug and play, piece of cake. It plugs into the back of the stereo, and if you don't hard mount it (i.e. drill a hole) it only takes a few minutes.

BUT, you only control the stereo, not the MP3 player. So you have to start/stop it seperately, as well as choosing the music (playlists, albums, artists, etc.)
Even with the ipods (using the ipod adapter) you only get minimal MFSW functionality - i.e. specific MINI playlists, and skipping songs.
I have the Belkin cup adapter, and find it just as easy to reach down and skip a song if I don't want to hear it. And I can dial up a specific album/artist vs. be restricted to 5 playlists.
