Need Help with Alpine Wiring Harnesses / Chicagoland Audio Experts?

I am pretty newbie when it comes to car audio and I need some help!

I specifically didn't get the HK system upgrade for my 05 MCS because I had an Alpine 7998 head unit that I wanted to install in the car.

When I called Circuit City today to see if they'd install it for me the department manager said immediately that no one makes a wiring harness or adapter that will work with a Mini Cooper. I find this hard to believe as I've seen other people post their own success with the 7998.

Can you direct me to a product number or company that would sell these? He said he'd work with me if I can bring in the harness or show him specs on the adapter / harness set up.

Even better, anyone in Chicagoland know of a great Mobile Electronics place that will work with me on this and be little more consultative?

Help! And Thanks.

I wouldn't waste your time having someone do it, car stereos are SIMPLE to install. Course I did them for like 3 years .

I appreciate the thought about doing it myself, but it's just not me. I'd start a fire or something.

I did, however, call Crutchfield and ask them and sure enough they sold everything you'd ever need to have the 7998 installed, including a network of installers. After trying to deal with the Tweeters and the Circuit Cities of the world I was very impressed with Crutchfield - -I did the whole thing with online chat and then called the guy to discuss some weird aspsects of the install. Very competent.

In two weeks or so I'll post pictures. I also got the HK Ipod Drive and Play and I'm going to have that put in at the same time.

Motor On.

I have the 7998 in my MC and love it. It also controls a 6 disc mp3 changer and XM tuner. I have a few pics here:

The amber lighting in the head unit matches the gauge lighting in the MINI's dash perfectly. Looks like it was made to be there.
