iPod interface/connection to '02 MINI

What can I use to connect my Ipod Nano to my '02 MINI. I don't want to change my headunit, all I want is something similar to an aux port. I still prefer the aux port from the Ipod interface since I want to be able to see the titles of the tracks. What do you guys suggest?

John

that's a cool gadget but, unless you want to use an fm transmitter, it still requires some way to hook into the head unit if you don't have an aux input which the 02s do not. i suggest something like the blitzsafe that hooks into your CD changer port, run a connection up to the front, hook up your ipod, put it on shuffle and motor on.

STLMINI,
Have you had experience with blitzsafe? Do I control my music through the Ipod or through the stereo? And why do I have to run a connection to the front? Don't I just unplug the changer cable and plug in the blitzsafe cable at the rear of the headunit? Sorry for all the questions, I'm an Ipod newbie!

Fjo,
That's a nice option too, but I'd rather keep things simple. Thanks though!

the blitzsafe until plugs into the jack where the cd changer connects in the boot. it has two rca inputs (left channel, right channel)... i use a 6ft wire that converts to a headphone (1/8") plug that can either be plugged into the ipod or a device such as the belkin ipod auto adapter/charger.

if you plug the blitzsafe (through the 6ft cable) directly into the ipod, you have to use a combination of the audio level on the ipod and the audio level on your head unit.

if you use the belkin adapter, it acts as a charger as well as uses a balanced output audio level so you don't have to worry about what the ipod audio is set on.

i've actually purchased one of these to replace my belkin because i like that in addition to being a charger and an audio out, it's also a clean mount.

confused? search for ipod on NAM there are tons of threads on this.

Thanks a lot for the info.

STLMINI,
Ok, now where do I get this Blitzsafe product? I still prefer the Belkin car kit since the 1/8" plug is at the lighter adapter, making a cleaner install. But the mount of Xtreme looks real nice. Do you think a nano with a silicone sleeve will still fit the Xtreme mount? I've actually searched the forum but it just got me more confused, and having an '02 MCS doesn't help either. Thanks again!!

check here:

http://www.blitzsafe.com/blitz_catal...z_catalog.html

also, check crutchfield and other car audio websites. they might be cheaper than directly from the manufacturer if you can believe it.

also, you may want to post something on NAM to see if anyone has one they are selling... many 02 owners have sold and no longer need the adapter.

how about minis own ipod adaptor vs the ice link

they both provide MFSW capabilities and so on. i havent been able to find a good description on minis own part and if its any good. at under $150 its not too badly priced compared to the range of others but is it any good for that $150? how does it stack up against the ice link or others?

STLMINI,
Thanks again. I'll see where the best place to purchase this kit from.

The Ipod adaptor will not work on the '02 model years.
