Polycom roofing, Dynamate install.

Well after reading a few posts on getting peal and stick roofing for use as a dynamite alternative, I decided to take the plunge. This weekend I took a trip out to ABC Roofing Supply as they sold Polycom Peal and Seal roofing rolls. I purchased a $45 32’X9inch roll and proceeded to pull my door panels. In the end I ran out of steam after doing each door and boot lift gate.

On my drive north I noticed that the car is much more like my Audi A6 on the freeway noise wise. All in all I very happy with the results so far, as I still have about 50% of the roll left I plan on pulling the rear quarter panels, the back seat and the boot liner, and doing all that. Who knows I might even go so far as to pull the front seats and carpet, buy another roll and doing it all.

As for making the car heavier, well all in all I would guess each roll is about 20 lbs, having removed the stock 20 lb rims for light weight 13.5 lb rims, I figure I am still going to be ahead in the game. Well that is until I just drop 20 lbs off my butt.

Oh and I have not noticed any smell coming from the Polycom, its not asphalt more like a gummy rubber filling in-between the foil and the rubber adhesive layer.

Me: Officer no I have don't know I was going that fast.

Police Officer: You were; how do you explain not knowing you were going 85 on a corner posted at 25?

Me: Well you see I put this roofing stuff in the car to deaden the sound and make my MINI more like my A6, rather then use Dynamat someone on the NAM recommended roofing stuff. Ever since then I just can't seem to go slow. I think its toxic fumes from that stuff.

Police Officer: Well ok then carry on but don’t go visit that NAM site again.
