I would like to replace the silver HK speaker covers with OEM Mini anthracite speaker covers. Is the difference with the HK speaker covers just cosmetic, and are they mounted the same way as the standard speaker covers?

In cars with the base stereo system, anthracite interiors include anthracite speaker covers. They look much better with the other anthracite trim than the silver HK.

 

they are all installed with pegs that are melted into the door panel. good luck geting them off without horribly damaging the door panel. your better off finding a larger aftermarket speaker grille to replacet it with and painting it the anthracite color....

 

I know that it would involve taking off the door panel and cutting melted plastic rivets, and I don't have a problem with that:

Mostly I want to determine whether HK and non-HK speaker covers are compatible (interchangeable). If they are, I prefer to swap them instead of paint.

 

Think I found my answer. The speaker covers look interchangeable and mounted the same way.
