Just got the auxilary input and installed into on Saturday. Works great on my iPod. No volume problems or anything. I even still have my 6 cd changer hooked up just in case i forget the pod at home. Also got the belkin car adapter and and belkin car holder is on its way. Ministeve7 you were a great help and thank you all.

I always have my iPod on maximum volume in my car, and adjust the speaker volume using the head unit. My impression is that this maximizes the sound quality, but I could be wrong.

And I'll add in my encouragement to any "amateurs" who are squeamish about attempting to install the aux input - it's really easy, especially if you have small hands!

I'm using two Belkin auto adapters. In our Jetta I've got a tape adapter plugged into it. In our Santa Fe, I'm using an aux input for the aftermarket Blaupunkt head unit. The Belkin provides a level-adjustable 1/8" output. It powers/charges the iPod and attaches via the dock port on the iPod; that's the only connection to the iPod. It works quite well, but I've got some alternator whine in both vehicles, which I've yet to investigate...

I've also got a PocketDock for use around the house and I'm very happy with that, as well.

IPOD car holder

In MINIsteve7's pic I noticed the cup doesn't fit so well in the cup holder. I purchased it anyway but could not get it to fit. Not very stable when trying to change things on the IPOD. Any better suggestions?

I installed the aux input on my 03, no problems. But now I have an 05 and I can't seem to get the plastic shield from under the steering wheel off. Do I pull from the top and have it pop out? If I remember correctly, the 03 had tabs and was easy to remove. I don't want to pull on this and break anything. Any advice would be appreciated! I have an iPod that I'd like to use when I'm driving! Thanks everyone.

You're referring to the so-called "bolster" under the steering column, in front of your knees? If you've got the stock one without the storage shelf, you should be able to just yank from the circular cut-out at the top. I've popped mine ('05, too) open several times, now.

That's exactly what I'm talking about! Thank you. I thought it would just pull out, but I wasn't sure and I didn't really want to break anything. All the best! Thanks!
