Sat NAV - is this going to be a mission?

Hi All,

here goes! I orderd my mcs without the sat nav .... i have been kicking myself quite hard becouse it looks excellent in the cars ive seen... i managed to get hold of a complete navigation system out of another cooper s ...including all the wiring harness etc... I went about and installed it myself with a little effort but got there in the end.....

the problem is OUCH!!!! when i power up the car all I get is a blue screen...the dvd system has power and everything else is ok...i have been back and forward checking the wiring but all seems well........ can some one point me in the right direction PLEASE

does the sat nav need to be coded in???? as with the other bits of items like the fog lamps...obc need to be coded in???

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I await and pray in hope that some one else is as mad as I am in attempting to do this! PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Do you have the Nav disc? Did you bench test it first to make sure everything was working? Did it come out of a wrecked Mini, problems sometimes arise from roll overs and very hard impacts. I wouldn't think it would have to be coded, it should be a stand alone system. I will see what I can find out and let you know.

If I were you, I'd checkout the following web site:

http://www.bimmernav.com/index.html

They do lots of retrofits of BMW nav systems and a lot of it might apply to the MINI system as well (as they are very similiar - if not the same). The site also gives links to other places such as the BMWnav Yahoo Group, etc. where you might be able to request some help from others.

It appears you've undertaken quite a project with your MINI. I hope that it works out for you in the end.

Hey thanks for the reply..

it was partly disconnected when I got to the car....the damage to the car was down the passenger side and had knocked the wheel off....no roll though...I was told it had been working before the insurance people came to have a look and ripped the car apart.......I did not bench test the system in my excitement to try and get it and see it light up.....I thought it might have been a problem with the sat nav screen...so I went and got another screen...problem still persist so its not that...I haven’t had a chance to get hold of another dvd system but this is really expensive.... I would appreciate any help.

Thanks
