What should I get? Alpine CDA-9835 or Pioneer avic-n1?
I realize that these are totally 2 different headunits at two different price points but which one would you get?
1. Alpine CDA-9835 - Simple/eloquent design with ipod connection funtionality- $400+ ipod adapter $100= $500
2. Pioneer avic-n1- Nav,dvd,cd,and tons of other cool stuff but it doesnt have ipod connection solution- $1500.
Is the the nav screen viewable in the sun with the panoramic roof is open and etc??

I have the avic and love it, I have never had any issues reading the screen, but I also dont have a sunroof. I seriously doubt it would be a problem though. The avic has a nice screen and is very functional, the nav works very well.
Screen
I'm looking for a TFT Touch Screen compatible with iPod.
I like the Alpine KCA-420i. Is this the stereo or the unit?
As for the screen what do you recommend for mounting on the roof?
I also considered the combined systems.
Please help me.

Hello,
Alpine HU's compatible with iPod require an extra component for functionality. It translates CD changer commands for the iPod, and provides the appropriate connections. Tweeter told me $100. I'm certain you can find it cheaper, but I would find reviews online first for functionality questions. Most seem less than impressed. I would hit Google with "(your prospective HU name) iPod review" and see what pops up.
I'm personally going with an AUX input installed by dealer for now, since none of the current options measure up, in my opinion. At least one MINI driver at motoringfile, with a review of the MINI/BMW iPod adapter matched to a iPod photo, has gotten reasonable results, but they seem inconsistent. Final solution offers track data displayed on iPod photo, but does not seem to work that way consistently. I'll wait for an Ice-Link Plus from Dension, once they've got a few more kinks ironed out. ID3 tags on the HU are a requirement for me, I might need to get a unit from Japan to ensure a good match, as I've got a fair amount of Japanese tracks in my iTunes library.
Cheers,
Matthew Z.
