Aux input Jack-problem

I installed an euro shelf with a second power outlet and aux input jack The power doesn't work (I'm not too concerned about that, I can trace the power and check to see if I have a proper ground). But, running an IPod from the factory power outlet, the aux input does not seem to work. I have the stereo set for aux and have changed the aux volume settings and...nothing.

Am I overlooking something obvious? If not, how do I trouble shoot this? I couldn't see the back of the stereo when I plugged in the aux input cord plug but it seemed to fit, easily, and, given its unusual shape I can't believe I made a wrong connection.

Any ideas? Thanks

Is your car an '02 build? If so,the aux port is on the head unit but it's not functional.

It shouldn't even recognized the Aux input then. You can't select it on the HU if you try on an 02 HU

try cranking the ipod volume up, then crank the radio's volume... if that still doesn't work, maybe you didn't connect it correctly/ all the way inserted?

Mine's an '05, I'll try the volume suggestions. Then I'll try to reconnect it (not like there are a lot of places to go wrong). Thanks.

The AUX cord could be bad. A few months ago, I met up with someone having the same problem. We tried my cord (both fresh out of the bag) an it worked. Just a bad cord. Hope this helps and Good Luck!

Switched cables and still nothing.

I thought that perhaps I'd plugged the plug end into the wrong socket at the back of the radio, so I crawled under the dash and couldn't see the back of the radio with the Euroshelf in place. What I could see was the back of the aux input jack - and the male plug sticking through! The cable that is connected to the jack had pulled off when I zip-tied it to a steering column brace! Pushed it back on, after feeding a little more cable through the zip-tie to give it some slack, and, Presto! Sound through the aux mode!
