GPS map update

Hello,

I own a 2007 R56 on which I put some times ago a GPS unit from a 2013 R56 LCI.
With an adaptator, the unit is working properly. But the maps on the GPS unit are old (2013).
So I tried to update maps. I downloaded 2023 maps and put then on an USB key. I got myself a FSC code (Compatible with GPS serial number).
I put the key in the car : the GPS unit recognized it. I was asked to enter the FSC code : it has been accepted.
Then, i was asked if I would like to update map : I selected "yes"... But the update doesn't want to start.
Do you have any idea ?
Thank you !

Hello super cyprien, sorry to butt in on your question, but I'm also installing a radio like yours but I don't know which adapter to use for GPS, do you have a link to yours?

I am not sure this is it - but I needed tup update my synch software on my 2014 f150 via a USB drive. The first drive I used would not work - in the instructions it said I needed one with these specs ( link below ) and that one worked:

In Europe, pre2017 2018 versions of map data are not compatible with later versions. I remember seeing somewhere official BMW/MINI update instructions that required pre-2017 2018 versions to first be updated to the 2017 2018 version before installing map data that is newer.

Edit: Apparently, this applies to european "Move" (champ2) map region and the year in question is 2017 (not 2018). Whether or not it is also applicable to other map regions or navigation systems (other than "Move"), I do not know.

I had indeed read that the European versions needed to first install the 2017 map for it to work. But after trying several times with the 2023 one (the 2017 wouldn't work either), I eventually managed to succeed, even though it was telling me that the new map... wasn't new. It now seems to be working.
