Aftermarket + OEM radio wiring both on CAN Bus

Hey everyone! I have a 2012 R57 S with a regular (non HK) Boost CD radio system. I successfully installed a double DIN aftermarket radio with CarPlay/Android Auto thanks to all the folks on this forum.

I've read on other threads here that certain scans (DIS, ISTA) and dealer diagnostics/updates require the OEM radio to be present.

To make this easier, I was wondering if there's some way I can have both radios connected to the CAN bus. It's simple to tap the wires, but the question is SHOULD I?

I called techs at both Crutchfield and Metra/Axxess and all said I'm in uncharted waters. Metra has done this before on Cadillacs, but never on European cars.

Not sure if I should even experiment doing this. Plan B is to wire up my own harness to glovebox so that it's easier to switch between the two radios. Any thoughts most appreciated!

At the moment I just have the aftermarket radio connected using the Axxess LC-BMRC-01 wiring harness, and the OEM radio is disconnected

Thanks! I'll post pics and stuff in another thread later.

If anyone has ideas on my original question though, about the risk/safety of wiring both radios on the CAN bus at the same time, most appreciated!
