No Sound
No Sound
I got in the Mini this morning and plugged in my phone like usual but there was no sound.
I figured something wrong with the cord... But when I changed it to the radio, there was no sound from that either. I pressed the volume button to see it was muted that way, but that didn't do it either.
What am I missing?
Thanks!

Not that I know of. Basic system with a CD player. I guess they still did that back in 2009 when my Mini was built. CDs are like 8 tracks these days :rollseyes)
I plug my phone into to headphone plug on the lower dash. About out of sight.

I checked the 20 Amp fuse that has what looks like a radio on the door. It's the first 20 under 3 30s on the right hand side.
I shot a little video hoping that would help. I can take one of the fuse box if you think I should...

Just to make sure:
Do you get the regular warning sounds, e.g. when trying to leave the car with the lights on?
If so, try increasing the volume by turning the ****, first with radio or CD, then also with AUX as source.
Reasoning:
My LCI with "Business Navigation" sometimes reduces the set volume level to zero when pressing the volume **** for muting. If the **** is then pressed again (with the intention to deactivate mute), the volume is not raised to the previous level but remains at zero. Increasing the volume by turning the **** brings it back.
Edit:
Please also state whether your car has the Hifi package, i.e. tweeters installed in the A-columns.

I do have small speakers in the A-columns.
I do not see anything about navigation in any of the menus.
My lights go off if I leave them on, too, but I still get a warning sound. Do you get any warning sounds at all? E.g. when you leave the sidemarkers on?
Since there are tweeters in the A-columns your car is euipped with the Hifi package. That includes an amplifier fitted in the rear left behind the boot trim. They like to die (very) prematurely, maybe that is wht has happened to yours. Search for Hifi amplifier here on the forum for more information and possible diagnosis.

Is there a separate fuse for the Amp? I didn't see it.
Have you diagnosed the amp and found it to be dead? If so, please state what you did (for the sake of those who will face the same issue in the future and come here for help).
Which bolt are your referring to?
My car came without the audio package so I can't say whether the factory amp can be removed (through the trim opening) without prior removing the left hand side trunk inner trim. However, having installed an aftermarket amp there (using the trunk trim from an audio package equipped car), I'd say it is not possible to remove the factory amp without removing the trim first.
I posted in a separate thread pictures and links to instructions. Unfortunately the site with the instructions is no longer free. However, there are videos on the web showing the procedure.

What do you base this on?
The factory amp (if fitted) is on the left. On the right is the digital radio tuner (the parts shown are for US-models, for which the digital radio tuner is called IBOC tuner by BMW/MINI).
