Replacing nav dash unit

06 R53 with factory nav.

If I remove and replace the dash-mounted portion of the Nav system with a used part from another car, am I going to have issues with codes, odometer readings, etc, or is all of, that data in the underseat portion of the nav system?

Yes, the center clusters are the brains with the VIN and critical info, whether NAV, Chrono, or Speedo.

From this post, it looks like the replacement can be reprogrammed by someone with the right equipment and who knows what they're doing, but it doesn't say if the VIN will still be off, or if there are any other issues: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ml#post4561048

I also recall a post where the center cluster was sent overseas for re-programming, but I don't remember if it had any contact or cost info.
