I have a '13 Justa with nav. The latest map through Mini is 2016. For my area, It is woefully out of date. Is there a way to update the map via aftermarket? I remember there was a map update vendor on here some years ago but I lost his contact info.

If you do a search on the internet lots of places sell map updates & cheaper prices than the dealers but with some risks involved or you could search for forums and DIY but with some risks involved.

 

ebay has plenty of vendors, you need a vin-specific key to allow updates to a new map version. I did this back in 2016 so memory is rusty, but for somewhere around $20-50 you can find an ebay vendor to get you a key and a link to dl the right maps for your car (iirc, MOVE north america 2020). Throw the map file on a usb stick, then plug that into the usb in your glove box (not in the center console) and then there's a process to start the update through the infotainment, and you enter the key.
