Sorry .. probably a NO on that one 'thought of ...' BUT it depends on the build date . .

see https://www.outmotoring.com/Genuine-...p3_hookup.html

"Details

IMPORTANT** This does not work with any 02 MINI's that have the factory radio installed, sorry! ALSO, does NOT work on any year Gen 1 MINI with the stock Cassette deck OR the 6 CD changer installed (if you unplug the CD changer it will work though)!!

It WILL work on the Harman Kardon stereo!!!

If you've got an MP3 player (who doesn't these days?) and want to pump the tunes through your MINI stereo system then this is what you need. Simple, clean installation using all factory MINI parts guarantees a perfect fit. Harness plugs directly into the back of the MINI radio while a 'dongle' can mounted just about anywhere within about 40 inches. The simple input jack is much like a standard headphone jack, so just run the correct cord (available from any Radio Shack, etc.) out of the MP3 player, Ipod or any other portable systems headphone jack and into the MINI Auxiliary port and you're set. Compatible with most MINI factory installed radio.

The 02 radio is 'unique' ... on a later GEN1 you can buy this part and install it in 15 minutes but on the 'original' ... not so .... I've installed several of these for folks .... 03&+

See also and check your build date (on the door jam sticker)

IF your 02 was built after 09/2002 the part should work ....
