Diagnostic Issues after Aftermarket Head Unit Replacement
I have a justa r56 and my radio died. I am thinking about replacing the headunit to an after market system as the dealer quoted by 2k.
I have read on various threads that replacing the stock headunit could lead to issues with diagnostics. Does anyone know this to be the case in reality instead of just conjecture? Has anyone been told that their car has cannot be serviced? I called two dealerships and they both said it wouldn't be an issues. The OBD will connect just fine. They said that the only thing is that the mini would be able to receive software updates which they don't recommend in a mini of my age anyways.
Thoughts?

No idiot lights at all. Only a OBD scan with MINI level diagnostics shows all the errors of not having a factory amp. A regular free OBD app on phone doesn't show the errors. Keep in mind that I'm talking about an F series, don't really know how the R generation will work, but I suspect the same results.
