Finally got my new stereo.

I bought this MINI a few months ago. The dealer ad said it had Bluetooth, and quite a few other things that it didn't actually have. Apparently all MINIs had the button for the phone, even if it didn't have the option. Silly, but true. The dealer checked and said it would be very cost prohibitive to add it, and finally MINI said that it couldn't be done on my car. I don't really believe that, but I was okay with it. I suggested that I'd be satisfied with an aftermarket double din, so they installed it this morning. Looks factory, and works great!

Looks great man! I had the same issue and swapped in a OEM JCW radio. The sound quality was night and day, but I still missed the bluetooth audio streaming and USB charging so I am throwing in an aftermarket double din this weekend.

What head until did you go with?

@Songman,

Check out this USB port for your center console. The Bimmerdude has a write up about it on YouTube. I put one together with quick disconnects. One of the best purchases I made for my mini for sure.

Oh, and it tells you how many volts your car is putting out as well.

It's a JVC KW-V640BT. Certainly not the most expensive unit, but they just had to get me some Bluetooth. It also gives me USB and WebLink, so it will run apps from my phone such as Waze and YouTube.

It has a lot of other options, some that I'll add later, like backup camera and XM. I can even add a module to it to get the MPG, speed, and other things I lost, and it will even read the ECM and put gauges and vehicle info on the screen. Overall, I'm happy with it, and the dealer made their mistake right. The only thing I'd like that I cant do, is put on a MINI startup screen, and I guess I can live with that.

I like that! The installer just ran a USB cord into the pocket down there. I'll definitely look into this! Thanks!
