I am getting a pair of Pioneer TS-A6985's to install as soon as Coop gets back. I'm also looking to nix the factory speakers in the front, any suggestions? Keep in mind that I am looking for all around quality sound, no ridculous base, that's why I went with the Pioneers. I'm not replacing the head unit, and I'm not looking at add an amp or a sub, again, just looking for a clean sound. Thanks

Well, he's still all banged up. All of the parts were supposed to be in last Thursday, still waiting for 5 or 6 (of 50!). They estimate that it will take about 120 man hours from tear down to completion, so about a month give or take. I am getting the aero bumper instead of the stock bumper and they're also installing my rally lights for me, so that's pretty cool. I miss that damn car!

There is nothing a few G & Ts won't cure. Even malaria...

When I was in school, I used to swear that Jack and Coke was a cure all, a step above NyQuil... until I sobered up...

I'm also running the TS-A6985's in the rear. I love the 4-way crispness....but I can't imagine they sound good on 15watts RMS. I'm pushing about 100watts RMS to them and they still seem greedy for more.

I've got some Pioneer TS-C604 6.5" components in the front that I really like. Very crisp and clean. Got both for a song from http://www.ikesound.com .

I'm not all too audio savvy so bear with me, what kind of amp are you running? Do 6 1/2s fit in the front or do you have to retrofit them? Thanks

Oops, my bad. That should have been MTX Thunder4202, not 4122. Here's a link for you.

The fronts do need a mounting ring. I bought mine from mikeythemini off the MINI2 site. He is an audio dealer in England. Many others have been making their own out of 3/4" MDF or oak. Again, a search will give you some good info on this.

Rear speakers are not for the faint of heart - here's what a naked Mini looks like inside, and this is before you can even get to the speaker!

This makes me think twice before I go with this upgrade. Whatever happen to the good ol' MIND BLOWER speakers from the 70's. I want to upgrade but thats for an expert. Now all I need is the $$$$.
