I have a quick question for everyone out there. I just purchased a used 02 MCS with the stock radio no hk or nav! I drive 40 miles a day to work I love music, but I do not want a high end system in this car because I will use this car up in a few years. I am going to order a new 05 or 06 to drive after work.
Can I add a cd changer to the stock system? the reason I ask is that I have a 12 disc Clarion disc changer and would like to install it into the 02. Anyone have any ideas? I have read a lot of the posts and I am begining to think this might be impossible.

 

If your Clarion has it's own controls (a 'pod' or remote) then you can get an adaptor from Blitzsafe that will allow you to use the CD changer audio input on the '02 headunit. You won't be able to control the changer tracks/disks via the headunit, however. You can easily add the factory changer or an Alpine changer (using an adaptor) to that headunit as well. The big difference in the '02 vs the later units is the inability to use the MINI Aux input adaptor.

The headunits are the same whether or not you have the HK system. The difference is the HK amp/processor and the HK speakers.

I was just hoping, since I already have the Clarion system on hand it would have been great to use it in the MCS, sometimes everyday radio S#$&S! I could pull the complete HU and CD Changer (complete Clarion AV system) and install it in the MCS. or am I asking for trouble?
