Disable, Turn off, Navigation System?

I have an 05 S with the nav screen and want it to not load when I turn the key. Is there a way to disable the nav screen without messing anything up? I have looked high and low to no avail. I would swap to the large speed O but research has turned up a no go for that. So if I can at least shut it off that would be a plus.

Try pulling fuse F22 (15A). It should disable the Nav computer without affecting anything else.

If it doesn't work or has unexpected side effects, you can disconnect the screen itself (or even remove it entirely). The Nav system will still be running, just nothing appears on the screen.

Great input! Thanks! I want the screen off and the fuel gauge working, so I will try the fuse first to see what happens.

This has been very helpful advice to totally disable the NAV screen. But what if I want the screen default to just be off instead of on?

Does anyone know if it's possible to set the NAV screen to be off when you turn on the car, but still able to be turned on at the push of a button?

I no longer have my MINI to check, but I thought there is a display on/off option. Look on the Settings screen, and also the diagnostic screen (while in the Settings screen, press and hold the menu button for 10 seconds).
