Viseeo Tune2Air and Visual Boost or Nav - Can someone clarify?
Hi,
I've currently got an R56 Cooper (radio boost, no nav or visual boost) with the official BMW Y cable (non nav) and the Tune2Air WMA1000.
Works a treat, automatically connects when I'm back in the car and lets me browse through the playlists as if the phone's connected. Couple of problems here and there but on the whole, I can't complain.
I'm looking at trading up to an R60 Countryman, and with the car being bigger, I'm interested in finding one with Visual Boost or Nav.
Has anyone got any experience of using the Viseeo Tune2Air with a car with the Visual Boost or Nav fitted? Does it still allow you to browse through genres, artists, playlists, or are there any major restrictions? Also, does it reconnect automatically?
On a side note, do cars with Visual Boost/Nav have A2DP streaming built in and if so, does this have any options to browse through playlists, artists?
Thank you in advance
Joe

Well to clarify my own post following the purchase of a 2010 Countryman.
1) you need visual boost (or nav), plus enhanced Bluetooth, to have A2DP streaming.
2) the A2DP streaming shows the track name, artist and album. But, there's no album art and no artist/playlist etc browsing, only next and back.
3) connected via USB (standard Apple cable) I had full control and album art.
4) connected using my old standard BMW Y cable (circa 2012) and an official Apple adaptor, I had album art and track browsing. 3.5mm needed to be plugged in. Crucially, MINI connected didn't work.
5) using the same combo as 4 but with the tune2air, I had browsing and track display. Only managed to get album art to show up once, and Mini connected didn't work.
In the end, sold my y cable and tune2air as it was a waste of £70 holding onto them. I would be interested to know if the official Y media cable makes any difference to the situation regarding Connected.
On a side note, on a 2014 Countryman with standard radio boost, the Y cable + tune2air works as well as it did on my 2010 R56.
In conclusion, if you've only got Radio Boost, the tune2air is a sound purchase. If you've got Visual boost, I wouldn't waste your time.
