Will any BMW MKIII Nav work?

The MKIII navigation drive in my 2003 MCS won't read the map cds anymore. It takes a disc in, tries to read it, and spits it back out.

I'm thinking of buying a replacement MKIII drive. Will all BMW MKIII drives work in my Mini, or do I need to look for certain sub-models or part numbers?

You probably have a MK4 DVD no?

Anyway any BMW MK3 or MK4 will work but it'll splash the BMW logo and have the BMW color scheme however those things are changeable with navcoder and some of the custom ROMS people make for these.

Thanks for the response, joylove.

I unfortunately have the MK3 with CDs in my 2003 MCS. Good to know that the drives are a simple swap.

If you find an MK4 at a good price, you may as well get it instead of an MK3. The MK4 is plug-and-play compatible with MK3 and able to read your CD discs. It has hardware and software improvements (not a dramatic difference, but between the two is a better choice).
